It all started with a text from my Senior Marketing Analyzer, "You work this Friday with the fire figters, so get ready!" . I was absolutly blown away and to be honest, very intimidated that I would be in charge of not only fire fighters, but National Guard ones! I got this news a mere two days prior to the session so my nervous went in over drive especially with me being pregnant. Come Thursday night after having the opportunity to speak directly over the phone with Sargent Esparza, I decided I was ready to do this. He was an extremely nice guy over the phone and helped me figure everything out that I needed to know for the day off. I decided about a month or two ago that I was ready to go pro with my business, but having my SMA push this one on me has really shown me that, "Watch out World" is really how I am feeling. I am so ready for this. I love photography and working with people and this opporutnity just brought it for me! The day of the photo session I was pretty excited-I was wide-eyed and waiting for the alarm to go off so I could get up and finally get ready. My hubby and I showed up to the facility where the men where doing their training and I was even more excited once I seen all the action. Huge tower like building with the men running in and out, a big green military fire truck, just the whole atmosphere was thrilling. We got all set up and introduced ourselves amongst the three men and started to shoot. The fire fighters did their training as I documented it in a very artistic and professional way. I am not going to lie and say this was an easy shoot because it wasn't. Being pregnant and following these guys up and down stairs, getting down on my knees and back up; it was all honestly too much for my pregnant self, but I rocked it!!! My thighs are killing me and I slept all day the following day-thank goodness my son is sick and he slept too! It was amazing to be able to be a part of their day, get to know what the have to go through, see it all first hand, and to be able to photograph it for them - wonderful! I get the opportunity to shoot again for them this 8th. On the 8th there will be roughly twenty men instead of three and joining them will be Sargent Esparza so this should be a totally different experience all in it's self! We hope to get some more extreme action shots such as fires, putting fires out etc. Look to the future for a blog about that photo session. I have uploaded all the photos onto my website in portfolio under "special projects" please take a look at that and comment back here!
