Great day! We set up to do our daily photo shoot with much anticipation. I had to cancel my photo session that was previously planned for today because of the weather being weary. We instead used our ever so beautiful and cooperative daughter, lil {z}, as our model and tried out a vintage suitcase that was my hubby's father's. I can not be happier with how the two photographed together; just beautiful! The suitcase wasn't in the best shape, having duct tape holding it closed leaving adhesive marks on the suitcase. Even though it is rather dirty, scrapped up and old; it works for me! We set up our lighting in the kitchen and prepared the table as our location of the shoot. Everything worked out wonderfully and below are photos to show you how it all plays out behind the scenes. You see these beautiful and stunning photographs where babies are always in these spectacular, compromising spots, but you never know how a photographer actually accomplishes achieving that photo. It certainly isn't easy! It certainly isn't hard either :). When working with infants, especially ones that aren't yours, it's extremely frustrating and scary to handle them as they fuss, cry, and move. A baby can't take direction like an adult or even an older child can so it becomes frustrating how they constantly move frantically about. It takes over twenty snaps of the camera sometimes to get that EXACT shot you are trying to achieve. The key though is to not get frustrated and that is my job. Frustration only worries the baby in which creates the crying; all goes down hill from there. What people also don't see is the side lines of behind the scenes. It is NEVER just me working with the newborns and infants. I have my hubby assisting my every move. When we work with little ones, safety is key! Pillows are surrounding the babies, hands are but only inches away for support, and even sometimes, hands are still in the photos! So, next time you see a stunning photograph of a beautiful baby perched up on a bookshelf, counter top, in a hammock, or anywhere that makes you cringe for it's safety...........there is a photographer doing his/her job; providing the utmost safety for the child while making a beautiful image.
A shoot I had with lil {z}about a week ago where we tried out the "hammock". Mind you that doing a hammock shot with a 12 pounder is no piece of cake! As you can see below, there was much protection for the lil one. The final product shows only the baby laying in the hammock all by herself.

Final outcome......

Today's photo shoot.......(and my beautiful kitchen that nobody has seen since it has been revamped)

This is the start of the shoot...notice the disagreement in her.

She's still disagreeing, but is giving it a chance at this point because she hears mommy singing, and daddy playing with her toys so she wonders, "what's going on"..."I'm curious".

and the rest is history. :) If mommy and daddy stay calm as well as the photographer, baby with follow your lead as long as baby has no other reason to complain such as hunger, pain, or sleepiness.
