Tonight I was doing a little Goggle search on "Professional Newborn Photography" when I noticed a photo that was EXTREMELY Familiar. There was a photo of mine, that I have copyrights to on a unfamiliar website. I clicked on it, knowing that this client had apparently made his/her way around my "no right clicking" on my website. It's easy really to steal photos, it is; if you want poor quality snap shots of the screen! Every client that I take on, I have a respect for. I trust in you and value your opinions and I honor that you trust me to be apart of your life as well. So, when a client proceeds with STEALING a photo it breaks my heart. When it REALLY comes down to it, if you wanted a photo just for your silly little blog avatar, more then likely I won't care, and I will provide you with a low resolution photo anyways. Even though this client had his/her pickings through his/her gallery, he/she did have a lot of nice things to say about me as a professional along with the photos he/she took. I hope to not seen my clients stealing my images from me just for the sake of having them to "show off". If you want to show off or brag about the beautiful photos of your beautiful babies (or other) I would only want you to show the best. Because I have had so many incidents where clients take it upon themselves to get the photos they want, I will now be applying watermarks to all of my proof images and locks will be mandatory on galleries.

ReplyDeleteOMG!!! I cannot believe that happened, that is crazy. Are they at least giving you credit, or removing it from their website?

Eww that's so lame. Something similar happened to a friend of mine too. But, it must mean that your work is something they wish they could create.
