Documenting a runner. -Professional Portrait Photographer (Folsom,ca)

Our work day started rather rocky. Having to get up at 4:00 am when we had just gotten to bed a mere four hours prior, was brutal. Four hours you say,I should be able to go on four hours right? Well, having the new baby waking up through out the night within those four hours, really sets me at a good solid half an hour of sleep lol. We pried ourselves out of bed and got ready nonetheless. Being excited about doing what I love, seeing my friend, and having a new experience greeting me on that day; it got me through the rough morning-and entire day for that matter. Commuting to the race location was interesting with the early a.m. fog. We arrived right on time and was greeted by Maryam with the utmost excitement. Today was her race day. She was preparing to run a marathon of 26.5 miles! Can you believe that-crazy, huh?! I warmed up with her for about a half hour; she warmed her muscles to prepare to run as I warmed up to shoot (other words, I photographer her warming up). I seen her to her start line, took a few more shots, wished her luck, and they (a good 200!) were off!!! I took beautiful photos of her crossing the start line and then some! Once they were out of sight, we hurried back up the trail to get to the car in order to get to our next destination where we would catch her running. Once we got to our location, we waited for our runner. It was an absolutely beautiful morning, and our hour wait seemed like only minutes. Birds sang so wonderfully; they kept Zoey asleep. Standing in my position waiting for our runner, I was greeted by just about every other runner. Wished good morning and told that they were glad to see me again (from the start line). It made me feel good to be recognized in a sense. Here came our runner, smiles, waves, and all! Took some more wonderful shots of her, and before you know it she was gone. We packed up again in the car and made our way to our next spot; the finish line. It would be a few hours out till she would arrive there so we relaxed a little and then made our way to the finish line where we enjoyed the environment, the energy; the half and whole marathon runners finishing. Seeing Maryam finish was inspiring for myself and I am sure for many others. I captured her big accomplishment in a beautiful, timeless manor. Friends and family, and Maryam will have these photos for many years to look back on.

It truly is one thing to do what you love, enjoy, inspire to do. It's a whole other thing to do that one thing and then have the people you love joining you in your excitement. Maryam was doing what she loved and was accompanied by her loved ones. I was doing what I loved and was with the was I loved.....and I was photographing something I inspire to love!

Thank you for another amazing opportunity Maryam! Can't wait to see what our next adventure to capture will be!
