I had the privileged to photograph a newborn this past week, and actually the week before that I got to photographer her as well. Two weeks ago I made my way out to my client's house very excited to get back into the work flow that I have been so desperately missing since I was put on bed rest due to a risky pregnancy. Needless to say, I did not sleep the night before due to excitement! The family was a bunch of familiar faces beings as they use to visit my husband's old job. They were very friendly and accommodating to me and my family. I just had my baby a week after she had hers and me being a nursing mommy, I had no choice but to bring my little one along for the ride. My baby girl did wonderful on her first day on the job, only cried a few times and slept the rest. I was so thankful my little girl did so well. It opened a whole new door for me. I will from this point on out be able to take her with me to photo sessions because she was so wonderful for us. Any how, back to the star of the photo session; the newborn. She was not as sleepy and sweet that day as mine was. She had been having tummy problems and I think that the nervousness and frustration throughout the family had gotten to her a little as well. People sometimes take my advice for granted when I say that you must keep everything calm, feeling must be calm, and the baby's over all day has to be kept calm. Baby's sense everything from a little bit of frustration to total happiness and I believe at this session that was proven to be a 100% correct. After a few hours of working with mommy and daddy to try and sooth the little one we all decided that she had had enough and we would try another time. I was not required to offer them another session for free, but felt it was appropriate, professional and just nice for the new family if I did that for them. A week went by and we were at it again. This time as soon as I walked in the door, I noticed that the little one was going to be wonderful for us. A few fussy moments and a rattle shake or two to get her calmed back down, and she was just as sweet as can be! I honestly feel the photos were beautiful and I was excited to work outside of my normal by incorporating their home into most shots. I get so many clients specifically asking for those typical studio, over done shots that I can never fit in my artistic wants and needs for the family. I am grateful they trusted me with everything including their sweet little girl! I hope that they will come back to us when they are ready for more portraits!
Thank you again for the opportunity, Bale family! :) We had a great time!
